Eric Barnes

Eric is the President & Executive Editor of The Daily Memphian, an online daily news source ithat launched in September 2018.

Eric has also been Publisher & CEO of The Daily News since 2002. Additionally, he’s hosted Behind the Headlines on WKNO, a show which covers business, politics and community issues, with guests that have included governors, senators and community leaders.

He is a past president of The Tennessee Press Association, as well as the president of the Association of American Court & Commercial Newspapers.

Barnes is also the author of the novels The City Where We Once Lived, Above the Ether, Shimmer, Something Pretty, Something Beautiful and numerous short stories.

Years ago, he graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts from Columbia University and a BA from Connecticut College. Before that, he drove a forklift in Tacoma, Washington, and Kenai, Alaska, worked construction on Puget Sound, and froze fish in a warehouse outside Anchorage.
